How to read a Showdown Score™
The only score that counts how often a product breaks, not just how owners feel about it.
- Three parts add up to the score: what owners rate it, how often it fails them, and whether a credentialed tester backed it.
- Bands: Exceptional 8.5 and up, Excellent 7.5, Very good 6.5, Good 5.5, Fair 4, Poor below 4. Every score is dated.
- Price, the warranty and what a link pays us stay out of it.

Pros
- Named best overall by three independent testing outlets — Bob Vila, Reviewed, and Forbes Vetted
- Real glass globes on stainless stems — they don't yellow or fog like plastic (owners + Forbes both say so)
- Deepest owner base in the category — 4.4 stars across 17,000+
Cons
- Not for you if you want a bright task/security light — these are a decorative accent glow (~10 lm), not a floodlight (see the Gama Sonic or Ring)
- The diamond pattern they cast is love-it-or-not; a few owners just want plain light
- Solar: they need real daily sun and dim on short winter days
Duds in the pack - lights that never charge, and solar panels separating from the lamp head. Owners buying several sets report two or three bad out of sixteen.
9 of the first 10 critical cards (of 1,161) are one or more units in the pack dead on arrival or within weeks. Buy one set before you commit to lighting a whole path · critical reviews read August 2026
“These are high quality, absolutely gorgeous lights. Even my husband commented on the pretty pattern they throw. I love the glass globes, which don't yellow or go opaque with exposure.”— Deb Wolfley, Amazon · Verified owner
Pro review “Made from rust-resistant steel and featuring thick glass light shades in an attractive diamond pattern, the Beau Jardin solar pathway lights earned our top spot in the lineup due to their long-lasting walkway illumination.”— Glenda Taylor and Andreana Lefton, Bob Vila
