QH.HOME 550D Rectangular Winter Pool Cover (12×24 ft)
Heaviest fabric for a rectangle — QH.HOME's newer 550D line, a step up in cloth from the 500D ratchet cover we rank, sold cut for a 12×24 ft rectangle. Lay-flat seamless edges, a tightening winch plus double segmented drawstrings and Velcro straps. 4.2★ across 1,289 global ratings on a clean base — zero Vine in the visible cards, 13 of 13 Verified Purchase — but the listing now pools 33 sizes, round and oval as well as rectangular, so the count says more about the cover than about the rectangular cut.
Sold in 33 cover sizes and shapes on this listing (5'4" to 33 ft rounds, plus ovals and rectangles up to 16' x 32') — this page is the 12' x 24' (Rectangular). Check the size before you add to cart.
How to read a Showdown Score™
The only score that counts how often a product breaks, not just how owners feel about it.
- Three parts add up to the score: what owners rate it, how often it fails them, and whether a credentialed tester backed it.
- Bands: Exceptional 8.5 and up, Excellent 7.5, Very good 6.5, Good 5.5, Fair 4, Poor below 4. Every score is dated.
- Price, the warranty and what a link pays us stay out of it.

Pros
- The heaviest fabric of any cover on this page — 550D against the 500D of both ratchet covers we rank
- Paid buyers throughout: zero Vine in the visible cards and 13 of 13 Verified Purchase, on 1,289 global ratings
- Lay-flat seamless edges, so there is no stitched seam at the rim to split — the failure the 500D's own owners describe
Cons
- Its 1,289 ratings now pool 33 sizes on one listing, round and oval as well as rectangular, so few of them are about a 12×24 rectangle; the 500D's 1,540 is pooled too, and still the deeper base
- No published tear strength for the 550D line, so the fabric step-up is a denier number rather than a tested one — it is not directly comparable to the 500D's stated figures
- Solid fabric, so water pools on top and you still need a cover pump; it is not a safety cover
The cloth is not what fails. Owners report water sitting on top until the cover is trapped — 'the entire top fills with water and then you can't remove the cover' — and one bought it specifically because the listing claimed water would not pass through the top, and it did. The rest lands on the tie-down rather than the fabric: the winch 'doesn't tighten enough', the wind-up is 'not very stable', and 'the material is all fine and dandy but the cord you tighten' is not. Velcro and reinforcement go before the 550D does, one owner inside two months.
