- Compare the drops. Equal = evaporation.

Then dye, and only in the band the level named
Pump off. Water still. Circulation scatters dye and wastes the afternoon.
Release a small amount of leak-finding dye or food colouring right beside the suspect surface, moving slowly. At a hole the dye draws in as a thin steady thread rather than a cloud. Work the full circumference at that height before looking anywhere else.
The repair: the answer depends on whether the hole is wet
